Christiaan Weijts

Christiaan Weijts (Leiden, 1976) studied Dutch and Literary theory at the University of Leiden. He was editor and columnist of the Leids University weekly Mare from 1999 till 2007. A collection of Mare columns appeared in 2003 titled Sluitingstijd (Closing time). Weijts’ debut Art. 285b (2006) was nominated for the AKO Literature Prize and the Golden Owl. He was yet again nominated for both prizes with his second novel Via Cappello 23 (2009). The short dance story titled De etaleur (The window-dresser) was published that same year. He is a columnist for nrc.next and de Groene Amsterdammer. For deBuren he wrote the Radio Book ‘The day Juliet Capulet wrote back’.
