Ronelda Kamfer

Ronelda S. Kamfer (Cape Town, 1981) spent the first years of her life on a farm with her grandparents, where they worked as labourers. Kamfer is currently an honours student at the University of the Western Cape, with Antjie Krog as one of her professors. Her first poems were published in a collection titled Nuwe Stemme 3. Her debut collection of poems was published in 2008 titled Noudat slapende honde, which received the Eugene Marais Award in 2009. The Dutch translation, Nu de slapende honden (Now the Sleeping Dogs), will appear in November 2010. Kamfer was a guest at ‘Winternachten’ 2010 in The Hague and will also be joining the ‘Winternachten’ Turkey tour in November 2010.
