In the summer of 2010, deBuren visited the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in South-Africa, with the support of ‘Vlaanderen Internationaal / de Vlaamse overheid’ (Flanders International / the Flemish government), in order to create a series of city portraits together with authors, photographers and video artists.

Five authors, a photographer and a video artist created a city portrait of Utrecht upon the invitation of deBuren. The residencies were made possible with the collaboration of the Stichting de Vrede van Utrecht (VvU) and the Stichting Literaire Activiteiten Utrecht (SLAU).

Five authors, a photographer and several video artists made a city portrait of the Queen of seaside resorts. Vrijstaat O. acted as a host for the artists, and took care of a public encounter with interviews and recitals.
