In the summer and autumn of 2011 Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, hosts the citybooks. Three Macedonian authors write a contribution for citybooks Skopje, as well as two authors from the Low Countries. citybooks Skopje will appear online later this year!
The Macedonian writers are Nikola Madzirov , Goce Smilevski and Irena Cvetkovic. Flemish writer Saskia de Coster and Abdelkader Benali from the Netherlands worked on their citybook during their residency in Skopje and also took part in a public event .
This edition of citybooks will have a pictorial side created by young Macedonian talent Frosina Stojkovska. For citybooks, this versatile artist focuses for the first time on the medium of photography. At the same time, she acts as a hostess on behalf of the Macedonian P.E.N. Center which co-organizes citybooks Skopje.
The Macedonian P.E.N. is a non-governmental organization that, guided by the goals and principles of the P.E.N. International, stands for the freedom and dignity of literature, defending freedom of expression and freedom of the press. P.E.N. demands respect for the Macedonian language and the right to express oneself in his or her own language.
This edition of citybooks is also supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia.
Летото и есента 2011, Скопје, главниот град на Македонија, е домаќин на citybooks. Три македонски автори, како и двајца автори од Ниските Земји ги пишуваат своите придонеси за citybooks Skopje. citybooks Skopje ќе се појави онлајн подоцна годинава!
Македонските писатели се Никола Маџиров, Гоце Смилевски и Ирена Цветковиќ. Фламанската писателка Саскиа де Костер и Абделкадер Бенали од Холандија работеа на своите citybooks за време на нивниот престој во Скопје и учествуваа во јавен настан. Ова издание на citybooks ќе содржи сликовита страна создадена од младиот македонски талент Фросина Стојковска. За citybooks многустраниот уметник за прв пат се фокусира на фотографскиот медиум. Истовремено, таа е и домаќин во име на Македонскиот ПЕН Центар, кој го коорганизира citybooks Skopje.
Македонскиот ПЕН Центар е невладина организација која, водена од целите и принципите на Меѓународниот ПЕН, се залага за слобода и достоинство во литературата, бранејќи ја слободата на изразување и слободата на медиумите. ПЕН бара почит за македонскиот јазик и право за изразување на сопствениот јазик. Ова издание на citybooks е поддржано исто така од Министерството за култура на Република Македонија.
